Brown your meat in the olive oil over medium heat. Salt and pepper your beef. Then add in your garlic and allow the compound to sauté for a minute. When this is done, move your compound to your Crockpot. In the slow cooker, add your beer, wine, beef stock, sugar, tomato paste, thyme, Worcestershire, and bay leaves. Cook on low for about 8 hours.
