3 Delicious Breakfast Crockpot Recipes

Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and yet many people still don't take the time to eat in the morning. Finding tasty recipes for healthy breakfasts can help to ensure that the morning is off to nutritious start. With a small amount of prep work the night before, these three recipes for crock pot breakfasts will ensure a delicious start to any morning.

Slow Cooked Oatmeal

The possibilities for this hearty breakfast cereal can help you satisfy every taste. Start with the basic recipe, and add any of the add-ins to create your own delectable hot breakfast cereal.

Basic Recipe:

2 cups old fashioned oats

6 cups water

To this basic recipe, you can add any of the following add-ins, to your own specific tastes.

Add-ins: cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, nuts, dried fruits, coconut, maple syrup, brown sugar, ginger, cocoa, flavored protein powders, honey, or applesauce.

Place the oatmeal, water and add-ins in a lightly greased slow cooker, and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours. Once your oatmeal is finished cooking, you can add any milk, yogurt, fresh fruit, jam, jelly or other topping of your choice.

Crock Pot Breakfast Casserole

For busy mornings, nothing beats an all-in-one breakfast casserole that can be put together in no time flat the night before.

1 (32oz) bag frozen hash browns

1 pound of bacon, sausage or ham (cooked and diced)

1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, jack, swiss) of choice

1 cup veggies (onion, pepper, mushroom, etc) of choice

1 dozen eggs

1 cup milk

Place hash browns on bottom of lightly greased crock pot. Place meat, vegetables, and cheese over top of hash browns. Whisk the eggs with the milk and pour over the rest of the ingredients. Cook on LOW for 10 to 12 hours, until eggs are set in center.

Slow Cooked Breakfast Risotto (Rice Pudding)

As with oatmeal, the list of things you can add to rice pudding is practically endless. Start with the basic recipe and experiment to find your favorite!

1/4 cup butter, melted

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp cloves

1/8 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups arborio rice

1/3 cup brown sugar

4 cups milk ( or you may add 1 cup of fruit juice and 3 cups milk)

1 to 1 1/2 cups fruit of choice, dried or fresh

Mix all ingredients in lightly greased crock pot. Cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours.

By taking a short time to prepare your slow cooker breakfast the night before, you can wake up to a delicious morning meal any day of the week. Enjoy!

Wake Up to the Smell of Breakfast

As we often hear health experts say, we need to eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. However, for many busy individuals even the most basic breakfast is impossible, especially when one has to wake up at 4 am just to catch the early morning commute. Add that to preparing packed lunches for the kids and getting them ready for school and it almost always adds up to rush, rush mornings.

This is a scene that is replayed in most homes each weekday morning. Despite the fact that most people are guilty of rushing through breakfast or just missing it altogether, we could not deny the fact that breakfast is the most important meal for the day, especially for our kids. After a long period of fasting through the night, it is the nutrition that we get at breakfast that will get us through our day. So yes, we do have to eat like a King.

To address the need for nutrition at breakfast, we now have a wide choice of healthy breakfast meals to choose from. We have cereals of different flavors, instant oats, instant waffles, instant everything. Even eggs now come in tetra-packages, ready to be poured onto a hot skillet for instant scrambled eggs. But then again, we can only have so much cereal and instant foods before we grow tired of it.

Luckily, we now have the option to wake up to the smell of breakfast, with a breakfast fit for a King waiting for us in the kitchen. How? Crock Pot breakfasts! When you know you have absolutely no time to make anything in the morning and you feel like you just cannot have another bowl of cereal or instant oats the next day, it's time to take out your crock pot and whip up a breakfast casserole the night before. It will be warm, ready and waiting the moment you wake up.

Breakfast Suggestions

Southwest Crock Pot Breakfast- With your Crock Pot you could choose to have a Southwest-themed breakfast with peppers, chilies and cheese and a whole lot of sausage. Prepare all the ingredients you want with your favorite Southwest-inspired recipes and layer them in your Crock Pot. Plug the Crock Pot in just before bed time and have sour cream or fresh salsa ready in the fridge. A hearty and hot Southwest Crock Pot breakfast could be just what you need to pick you up in the morning.

Crock Pot Cobbler- Check out your fresh food section at the grocery or your favorite fruit market for the freshest fruits in season. Apples, peaches and pears make for great, warm, breakfast cobblers using your Crock Pot. You can use just one kind of fruit or mix it up! Combine fruit slices or chunks with granola and cinnamon, place in your crock pot and drizzle with a honey-butter mixture. The cobbler will cook through the night and will greet you with its sweet smell in the morning.

Making breakfast using a Crock Pot will actually be more than just a convenience for some. In areas where electric current charges are lower at night, Crock Pot cooking will also allow you to save up on costs.

So go ahead, eat breakfast like a king. There's nothing better to get you through the day.

Breakfast in the Crockpot

It is wonderful to wake up to a hot, homemade breakfast. By using your crockpot, you can plug it in at night and have that wonderful breakfast in the morning. These recipes call for eight to ten hours of cooking time. It is my suggestion you plug it in just before going to bed and then check on it just as soon as you wake up in the morning.

I'd like to share a few ways you can use your crockpot to have a hot breakfast in the morning.

This first recipe combines eggs and potatoes in a breakfast casserole. Start with a bag of frozen hash brown potatoes. I always defrost them before using them. Depending on the size of your crockpot, you'll create either two or three layers. At the end, you'll be pouring an egg mixture over the top so make sure to leave room. Use 1/3 to ½ of the potatoes on the bottom of the crockpot. Next comes your breakfast meat. You'll use about one pound in this recipe. Cook your meat and now add 1/3 to ½ of the meat on top of the potatoes. Dice up one bell pepper and one onion and add this on top of the meat. Your last layer ingredient is cheese. Use either white or yellow cheese, depending on your own taste preference. Total cheese is about one and half cups.

Now it's time to create the egg mixture. Mix together one dozen eggs and one cup of milk. We always use non fat milk and it comes out just fine. If you like salt and pepper add about one half teaspoon of each to the egg mixture. You want to mix the eggs and milk well, then pour over the top of the casserole. Cover and cook on low for ten to twelve hours.

The other recipe I'd like to share with you is for French toast casserole made in the crockpot. Start with about twelve slices of bread. You can use whatever you have in the house. We love leftover egg bread. If the bread is not already sliced, create slices that are on the thinner side. I take the bottom crust off of the bread before putting it in the crockpot. Spray your crockpot well before making this recipe so nothing sticks. The bread will expand while cooking so make sure you adjust the recipe and amount of bread to accommodate your crockpot.

If you like blueberries, raisins or strawberries, add them on top of the bread. Beat together the following:

1 dozen eggs
4 cups of milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ teaspoon salt

Pour this over the bread and then sprinkle with one quarter teaspoon of cinnamon on top. Cook on low about eight or nine hours. When you wake up in the morning, all of the liquid should have been absorbed by the bread.

These are just two ideas on having a hot breakfast ready for you when you wake up in the morning.
