What You Need
1 ½ cups sliced strawberries
2 ½ cups sliced rhubarb
¾ cup sugar
½ cup water
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
Several drops of cold water
1 cup self rising flour
3 Tablespoons sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter or margarine
½ cup milk
How to Make It
Place your crockpot on a low setting and then add the strawberries, rhubarb, sugar, ½ cup water, and the lemon juice. Stir to mix and then cover with lid. Allow this mixture to cook on a low setting for about 4 to 5 hours.
Mix several drops of cold water with the 2 tablespoons cornstarch and mix well to create a paste and then add this mixture to the crockpot. Stir well and then increase the temperature to a high setting. Cover with lid and cook.
Using a small mixing bowl you will add the self rising flour and sugar. Stir to combine. Cut in the cold butter or margarine until the mixture is grainy in texture. Gradually add the milk to moisten.
