Recipe for Crockpot Apple Butter

What You Need

7 cups applesauce, natural 2 cups apple cider 1-1/2 cups honey 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional) 1/2 teaspoon allspice

How to Make It

Place the applesauce, apple cider and honey in the crockpot. Mix in the cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.

Cover and cook the apples on low for 14 to 15 hours. The mixture should gradually turn a deep brown color.

Spoon the hot apple butter into hot, sterilized canning jars and seal. Process the jars for 10 minutes in a boiling water bath. Remove and let them cool. The jars will be sealed when the top of the lid pops inward.

Note: You can also seal the jars with the inversion method. Turn the hot, full jars upside down for 15 minutes. The heat from the jars and the contents help the lids to seal just fine. Never store jars that do not seal. The contents should be eaten immediately or refrigerated before they spoil.
