Blend to mix well and then spoon this blend over the spiced apple blend in the slow cooker.

Using a clean dry mixing bowl you will add the remaining cup of biscuit mix and the brown sugar and combine. Cut in the cold 3 tablespoons butter or margarine until the blend reaches the consistency of crumbs. Sprinkle this sweet topping over the spiced apple layer evenly.

Crockpot Recipes For Dessert: Crockpot Indian Pudding

Indian pudding is called Indian pudding because of the cornmeal that is useful while making it. Long ago when the colonists came to the new world they were use to eating simple puddings made with wheat flour. They may not have been made to be very sweet way back then. Rather they were created to help fill up the bellies of those eating them.

Being stateside where there was no wheat at that time in their region to be able to make and use wheat flour in their recipes, they simply adjusted the recipe to suit the ingredients they could get a hold of to include. Way back then they simply substituted cornmeal for the flour in the pudding they were making on this side of the pond. You can still do the same thing today if you like.

Crockpot Dessert Recipes - Free Up Your Valuable Oven Space For The Main Course

Does shuffling around your dishes in and out of the oven get complicated during a big holiday meal? We like to have several desserts, so that usually means something's got to come out of the oven so the desserts can start going in. This can get rather tedious and can result in some real timing dilemmas.

Why not put your crockpot to work for you this year? Transform your old favorite dessert recipes into crockpot dessert recipes and free up your oven for what it was meant for... the Turkey and Green Bean Casserole!

Crockpot

I chose three of my family's favorite desserts to make this year in my crockpot in order to free up my oven space and stove top for other dishes. Let's see how we can put my crockpot to work.

Apple Brown Betty

If you make this dessert in the oven, you have to time it just right so that you're pulling it out only a few minutes before serving. That's because it's better served hot with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. You can basically use all the ingredients you normally do, but I add a little more butter. You're going to cook it on low for a couple hours so that's all the timing required. No last minute switching casseroles around so you can get this dessert done at the perfect time.

My recipe is sort of a variation of both apple crisp and bread pudding, so a crunchy topping is optional. If you like, you can mix together the ingredients for the topping in a saucepan, then top the apple dessert either in the bowls or in the slow cooker just before serving.

PB and Chocolate Brownie

Brownies are always yummy, but this brownie dessert tops them all with the added peanut butter! You begin with a regular brownie mix, but the dessert isn't cut into squares like normal brownies. You spoon the dessert into bowls instead of cutting them into traditional brownie squares. Serve while hot so that the added ice cream or whipped topping melts a little.

Top this brownie dessert with some sprinkles of Reese's Pieces or other candy topping that you like. Cut a peanut butter cup in quarters and garnish with one quarter for each serving. You want to time the cooking and serving of this so that you are ready to scoop up your dessert just minutes after you shut off the heat.

Pecan Crust Cheesecake

One of my favorite desserts is cheesecake. It's fun using what can be considered a mini oven. Basically, you use the same recipe you normally would. The important thing to keep in mind is you'll be using a 7" springform pan so you need to make sure it will fit. A 5 or 6 quart size is usually big enough, but measure to be sure. Then, make a simple graham cracker crust with some finely chopped pecans added, form the crust in the bottom and up the sides a little in your pan. Make the filling according to the recipe you normally use, then fill your pan.

You'll need to put a small rack in the bottom to hold the springform pan off the bottom. If you don't have a rack that fits, just pull a good length of aluminum foil off the roll and form a donut shape out of it to support the pan. Just be sure the pan is at least an inch off the bottom. You want to cook your cheesecake on high for several hours, then shut off the heat and let it sit in there for another hour or until it's cool enough to handle. Then you'll let it cool completely on a rack on the counter before you remove the pan from the cheesecake.

Rather than sacrificing your favorite holiday desserts for lack of room in your oven, put your crockpot to work for you. Re-creating your old favorite dessert recipes into new crockpot dessert recipes will save you time and stress, and will get everything on the table as planned... hot, bubbly, and delicious!

Mix the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl and sprinkle over the top of the apple and cranberry mixture. Place 4 or 5 paper towels over the top of the uncovered crockpot. On top of the paper towels, place a wooden spoon. Place the lid of the crockpot on top of the spoon. This allows the steam to escape. Turn crockpot on high and cook for about 2 hours.

Corn Pudding

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 1/2 oz package corn bread mix
16 ounce can cream style corn
2 1/3 cups frozen sweet corn
1 cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Lightly grease your crockpot. In a bowl, blend the cream cheese, eggs and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into crockpot. Cover and cook on high 3 to 4 hours.

Chocolate Brownie Cake

2 1/2 cups fudge brownie mix
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1 cup chocolate chips

In a saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water, brown sugar and cocoa. Bring to a boil.

In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Mix well. This creates your batter. Lightly butter the crockpot. Spread the batter on the bottom of the crockpot. Pour the boiling mixture on top of that. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours. Turn off crockpot and allow cake to sit in crockpot for 30 minutes before serving.

One of the reasons I love desserts in the crockpot is because you just throw it all in and it comes out wonderfully. Using your crockpot during holiday times for dessert frees up your oven for turkeys, hams or whatever else you might be preparing.

I hope you enjoy these simple desserts made in your crockpot.

Crockpot Dessert Ideas

Slow cookers are good for making desserts as well as entrees, side dishes and appetizers. You can make cakes, fruit-based desserts, and even dipping sauces in the crockpot. If you are going to serve a hot dessert or dipping sauce, you can simply uncover the slow cooker and leave it plugged in so the sauce stays warm.

The Best Caramel Dip

To make a caramel dip, which is great with bread pudding, pound cake, apple wedges, or ice cream, you need to combine two thirds of a cup of whipping cream with a fourteen ounce bag of caramels in the crockpot.

Cover and cook on low for half an hour or until the caramel has melted. Stir in a couple of teaspoons of rum or half a teaspoon of rum extract, as well as half a cup of miniature marshmallows and cover the slow cooker again. Cook the mixture for half an hour more.

How To Make Spiced Fruit

You will need four pounds of canned fruit to make this one and you can choose from pear slices, peach slices, pineapple tidbits, mixed fruit, maraschino cherries and more. If the fruit is in syrup, drain it, but if it is in natural juice, you can keep the juice. Add the fruit to your slow cooker, along with a teaspoon of ground nutmeg, a tablespoon of cornstarch, a teaspoon and a half of ground cinnamon, four tablespoons of butter and half a cup of brown sugar. Add some fruit juice if none of your canned fruit is in natural juice.

Cook on high for three hours or on low for five hours, and then serve this dessert with sour cream or heavy cream. You can also serve it as a breakfast side dish and this recipe makes enough to serve eight people.

Cherry Cobbler Recipe

This tasty recipe is very easy and serves six people. Use a three and a half quart crockpot. If your slow cooker is bigger, you can use a lightly buttered souffle dish inside the larger slow cooker instead.

What You Need:

16 oz cherry pie filling
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 egg
3 tablespoons evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 sweet muffin mix or cake mix for 1 layer cake

How To Make It:

Put the pie filling in a greased crockpot and cook it on high for half an hour. Stir together the nuts, egg, milk, cinnamon and muffin mix or cake mix, then spoon it on top of the hot pie filling. Cover the crockpot and cook for two to three hours on low.

Crockpot Pecan Brownie Recipe

Another great idea is slow cooker pecan brownies. To make these, add quarter of a cup of melted butter to a two pound coffee can, then swirl it all over the sides and base. Sprinkle half a cup of chopped pecans on top.

Make up a family size package of brownie mix with the ingredients called for on the package and add another half a cup of chopped pecans to it. Pour this batter into the coffee can and put it in a crockpot.

Use eight paper towels to cover the top of the can and cover the crockpot. Cook for three hours on high without removing the lid until an hour has passed. Let the coffee can stand for five minutes, then carefully unmold the brownie mixture. Serve hot.

Some people say that crockpot desserts are among the best crockpot recipes because they are so easy and they mean you can concentrate on the entree, knowing the dessert will slowly cook itself. There are also a lot of savory easy crockpot recipes that you can make.

Crockpot Beef Tips With Zip and For Dessert Try Banana Split Cake Suitable For Diabetics

For the busy family on the go, or just the cook with little time for making nutrious meals, Beef Tips with Zip are perfect for you. Bring out the crockpot or slowcooker and take full advantage of its benefits. This recipe is easy to toss into the crockpot in the morning and ready when you get home. The surprise "zip" ingredient adds a surprising flavor as well as tenderizes the meat. Everyone will want to know why your beef tips are different than the ones they've had in the past! Serve over brown rice or no-yolk egg noodles. Add a salad, then finish off the meal with our Banana-Split cake that is diabetic friendly.

BEEF TIPS WITH ZIP!

2 lbs beef stew meat
2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 can low-fat cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
1 cup sugar-free lemon-lime soda

Turn slow-cooker on low. Place meat and mushrooms in cooker. In a mixing bowl, combine remaining ingredients until well blended and pour over meat and mushrooms. Put cover on slow cooker and cook on low approximately 8 hours.

Serve over brown rice or no-yolk egg noodles.

Note: Without the rice or noodles, there are almost 3 times as many proteins as carbs. This allows you to have the rice or noodles. Serve with a salad that has kidney beans or garbonza beans added.

BANANA SPLIT CAKE

Crust: 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 stick unsalted butter, melted

Filling: 3 small pkgs sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix
3 cans fat-free evaporated milk

Topping: 2 medium bananas, sliced
1 large can crushed pineapple in its own juice
1 carton sugar-free whipped topping
3 tbsp chopped walnuts or pecans
3 tbsp sugar-free chocolate syrup (I recommend Russel Stover brand)

Mix pudding and milk together until thickened. Chill in the refrigerator while making the crust. To make crust, mix graham crackers and butter together and press onto the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan. Remove filling from refrigerator and spread over top of crust. Add topping ingredients one at a time in the order listed. Refrigerate until serving time. If you really want to dress up your cake and you aren't concerned about the little extra bit of sugar, top each piece with a maraschino cherry before serving.

Enjoy!

Crockpot Dessert Recipes

One of the things I most love about my crockpots is that you can make breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert in them.

I'd like to share a few dessert recipes with you. This first recipe is a chocolate cake that uses a boxed cake mix. I find them on sale and then buy them for later use.

1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 small box of chocolate sugar free pudding
4 eggs
1 cup water
¾ cup oil
12 ounce container of low fat or fat free sour cream

Mix all ingredients together and pour into the crockpot. Cook on low about 6 hours. Allow to cool about 2 hours before removing from crockpot.

We love peanut butter and chocolate. You can add either chocolate chips or peanut butter chips to this recipe for a great added taste. Mix them in at the end and mix just enough to distribute them in the batter.

This next recipe is very similar. It's a blueberry cake, which also begins with a cake mix.

1 box yellow cake mix
1 can - 21 ounces blueberry pie filling
½ cup butter, softened

Pour the pie filling in the crockpot. Mix together the butter and cake mix. Pour this on top of the blueberry pie filling. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours.

Try this recipe using a chocolate cake mix and a can of cherry pie filling.

In both cases, serve the cake warm and put a bit of Cool Whip on top.

I happen to love Crème Brulee. Imagine my delight when I discovered this wonderful recipe could be made in the crockpot and that it was hard to mess it up.

You'll need ramekin dishes and a crockpot for this dish. I found Ramekin dishes at our local bed and bath store. They had sets of four on sale for under $10. They are basically single serving casserole dishes that can go into your oven. So for this recipe, you'll need 4 ramekin dishes and a crockpot large enough to hold all 4 of them. My 6 quart crockpot works great. Place the ramekin dishes in the crockpot and then add enough hot water that the water comes about ¾ of the way up the side of the dishes.

Now, create the crème brulee:

5 egg yolks
2 cups heavy cream
½ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla

Whip these ingredients together and pout into the ramekins. You'll cook on high 2-4 hours. Check your brulee after 2 hours. The edges should be set, the center will still be a little soft. What's very nice is that it's hard to overcook these in the crockpot.

Once done, remove from crockpot and allow to cool completely on the countertop. Once they are cool, place the dishes in the refrigerator about four hours.

Sprinkle raw sugar on top of each dish and then place dishes in oven on broil. Get the dishes as close to the broiler as possible. Brown for 3-5 minutes. Allow to cool and then refrigerate until ready to serve. When serving, place a strawberry half on top of each dish.

Crockpots are amazing. You truly can make just about anything in them.
